Located in the Laurel Highlands region of western Pennsylvania, the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown occupies a 655-acre mountain campus 70 miles east of Pittsburgh. As a regional campus of the University of Pittsburgh system, UPJ was established in 1927 and moved to its current location in 1967, where it operates as a four-year residential college. The institution offers more than 50 undergraduate degree programs, with notable strengths in engineering, nursing, business, and natural sciences. The campus features modern academic facilities and traditional residence halls that house the majority of first-year students. UPJ competes in NCAA Division II athletics as the Mountain Cats, participating in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference.
