Bard College

Overview

Bard College, set along the Hudson River in the hamlet of Annandale-on-Hudson, New York, is a private liberal arts college approximately 90 miles north of New York City. Established in 1860, the campus boasts a blend of historic and modern architecture set across a 1,000-acre wooded area complemented by views of the river. Bard is noted for its rigorous undergraduate curriculum, innovative arts programs, and its affiliation with the Bard College Conservatory of Music. Residential life is a central aspect of the Bard experience, with the majority of students living in dormitories and campus apartments. The college operates on a moderately selective admissions policy and is known for its interdisciplinary approach to education, exemplified by programs such as Environmental and Urban Studies. Bard College does not have a prominent focus on intercollegiate athletics; instead, its emphasis lies in fostering a diverse and academically driven student body.

In the most recent statistical year 6,482 prospective students applied, and 2,987 were granted admission.  Of those admitted 448 enrolled in the school.  2,471 students are enrolled on a full time basis, and 235 attend part time. In-state tuition for 2022/2023, excluding room and board, is $59,800 plus fees of $822.
