Overview

Mount Holyoke College, a private liberal arts institution, holds a prominent position in South Hadley, Massachusetts, part of the Pioneer Valley and within close proximity to the academically affluent city of Amherst. Established in 1837, Mount Holyoke is renowned as one of the prestigious Seven Sisters colleges, with a historic campus famed for its Gothic revival architecture, and offers on-campus living options. The college adopted a gender-diverse admissions policy in 2014, which includes transgender and nonbinary students, reflecting its historically progressive approach to education. It is recognized for a rigorous academic environment and a highly selective admissions process. While Mount Holyoke is primarily focused on undergraduate education with popular majors in the biological and biomedical sciences, psychology, and environmental studies, it also offers coeducational graduate programs. In the most recent statistical year 4,894 prospective students applied, and 1,946 were granted admission.  Of those admitted 544 enrolled in the school.  2,192 students are enrolled on a full time basis, and 200 attend part time. In-state tuition for 2022/2023, excluding room and board, is $58,280 plus fees of $218.
