Skidmore College is a private liberal arts institution located in Saratoga Springs, New York, approximately 30 miles north of Albany. Founded in 1903, the college sits on a suburban 890-acre campus characterized by a blend of traditional and modern architecture, including the Tang Teaching Museum and Art Gallery. Skidmore offers a diverse range of undergraduate programs with particular strengths in the visual and performing arts, business, and social sciences. The school maintains a holistic and competitive admissions process. On-campus housing is provided, with a variety of living options accommodating the majority of the student body. Skidmore's academic ethos is reflected in its commitment to interdisciplinary learning and undergraduate research opportunities. Notably, the college does not emphasize athletics in the same light as some larger universities but competes in NCAA Division III as the Thoroughbreds, with riding being a particularly noteworthy sport.
