Overview

St. Lawrence University, founded in 1856 and located in the rural village of Canton, New York, is a private liberal arts institution that offers a diverse range of undergraduate programs. The campus architecture is predominantly Collegiate Gothic, harmoniously blending with the surrounding natural landscapes. Its proximity to the Adirondack Mountains allows unique field-based study opportunities that complement its environmental studies and outdoor leadership programs, which are among the most renowned. While St. Lawrence is not adjacent to a major city, it provides a tranquil, closely-knit academic environment. The university is characterized by a selective application process, aiming to admit students who demonstrate strong academic potential and diverse talents. In the most recent statistical year 5,172 prospective students applied, and 3,284 were granted admission.  Of those admitted 533 enrolled in the school.  2,139 students are enrolled on a full time basis, and 36 attend part time. In-state tuition for 2022/2023, excluding room and board, is $61,600 plus fees of $420.
