The Best Colleges for a 990 on the SAT

What colleges can I apply to with a SAT score of 990?

With a 990 on the SAT, these are the colleges you have a competitive chance to get into

Looking at the most recent published freshman class SAT scores for all U.S. colleges, we've found 526 schools where submitting a 990 with your college application places you around the middle SAT score range of admitted students' average SAT scores. The colleges are ranked by their position on the CollegeSimply best colleges ranking. They represent the top schools where you will be a competitive applicant and those which have historically accepted a 990 SAT score. You can view your reach schools and safety schools by using the admission chance filter. Keep in mind, a SAT score alone won't get you admitted. It's equally important to have the GPA that the college is expecting for incoming students.

Is a 990 a good SAT score?

A score of 990 is a little worse than average. It places you in the bottom 38th percentile nationally out of the 1.7 million test takers of the SAT entrance exam. The score indicates you've done a slightly below average job answering the questions on the Math and Evidence-Based Reading & Writing sections of the test. Since your score is on the lower end of the range, consider taking a test prep course and re-taking the SAT to see if you can do better.

What is the ACT equivalent to a 990 SAT score?

For comparison purposes, a 990 on the SAT converts to a 19 on the ACT based on the College Board / ACT concordance. Not all colleges report both SAT and ACT score admission data so you should check our comparable listings for both standardized tests to find academically similar schools.

Important: If you took the SAT prior to March 2016, your test was scored on the old 2400 point scale. All SAT scores on this site have been updated to reflect the 1600 SAT scale range per the College Board's concordance tables.
