Tennessee State University

Tennessee State University, a public historically Black university founded in 1912, occupies a main campus in northwestern Nashville, Tennessee, approximately three miles from the city's downtown district. The 500-acre campus features a mix of historic and modern buildings, including several structures listed on the National Register of Historic Places. As Tennessee's sole public HBCU land-grant institution, TSU maintains strong programs in agricultural sciences, engineering, business, and health sciences, while also operating an additional campus in downtown Nashville focused on nursing and health-related programs. The university provides on-campus housing through traditional residence halls and apartment-style living facilities, primarily serving undergraduate students. TSU competes in NCAA Division I athletics as a member of the Ohio Valley Conference, with its football program historically recognized among HBCU athletic programs.
