Salve Regina University is a private Catholic university located in Newport, Rhode Island, near the coastal amenities of Narragansett Bay and within a short driving distance of Providence. Founded by the Sisters of Mercy in 1947, the university is set across a scenic 80-acre campus renowned for its historic Gilded Age mansions and ocean views, reflecting a commitment to preserving architectural heritage. The university emphasizes a liberal arts curriculum and is noted for its programs in nursing, administration of justice, and rehabilitation counseling.
