Overview

Adelphi University, founded in 1896, is a private institution located in Garden City, New York, approximately 23 miles east of New York City. The university's 75-acre main campus is characterized by a blend of historic buildings and modern facilities, providing a diverse architectural landscape. Adelphi offers a broad spectrum of undergraduate and graduate programs, with a particular emphasis on its School of Social Work and its Business program. The academics at Adelphi lean toward a more selective admissions process. On-campus housing is available to students, with a variety of living options from traditional residence halls to suites. While Adelphi does have an athletics program, it is not predominantly recognized for athletics over its academic programs.

In the most recent statistical year 17,301 prospective students applied, and 12,591 were granted admission.  Of those admitted 1,146 enrolled in the school.  5,883 students are enrolled on a full time basis, and 1,369 attend part time. In-state tuition for 2022/2023, excluding room and board, is $42,085 plus fees of $1,715.
