Overview

Stephen F. Austin State University (SFA), established in 1923, is a public institution situated in Nacogdoches, Texas, the oldest town in the state. The university's campus is nestled in the East Texas Piney Woods, presenting a serene, forested environment approximately 140 miles north of Houston. SFA offers a diverse array of undergraduate and graduate programs, with notable emphasis on forestry, agriculture, and education among its academic offerings. The university maintains a moderately selective admissions process. On-campus living is facilitated through a variety of residence halls and apartments designed to accommodate a significant proportion of the student body.
