Lamar University, located in Beaumont, Texas, is a public research institution founded in 1923. The campus features a diverse mix of modern and traditional architecture, set in the heart of Southeast Texas approximately 90 miles east of Houston. Known for its engineering and fine arts programs, Lamar University offers a broad spectrum of undergraduate and graduate degrees across its seven academic colleges. With a moderately selective admissions process, the university draws a range of students from various backgrounds. Accommodation is provided through on-campus housing options, including residence halls and apartment complexes available to students. Although not primarily renowned for athletics, Lamar University participates in NCAA Division I as a member of the Southland Conference, hosting various sports teams referred to as the Cardinals.
