Located in Warrensburg, Missouri, approximately 50 miles southeast of Kansas City, the University of Central Missouri (UCM) occupies a 1,561-acre suburban campus. Founded in 1871 as a normal school, UCM has evolved into a comprehensive public university serving the midwest region. The university maintains a moderate admissions profile and offers more than 150 programs across four academic colleges, with particular strengths in aviation, criminal justice, education, and business. UCM's campus features a mix of historic and modern facilities, including Selmo Park, the university president's residence dating to 1866, and a state-of-the-art terminal and flight center at Max B. Swisher Skyhaven Airport, where aviation students complete their flight training. The majority of first-year students reside in one of the university's residence halls, and UCM competes in NCAA Division II athletics as the Mules and Jennies.
