Overview

The University of Minnesota-Rochester (UMR) is a public educational institution situated in Rochester, Minnesota, an urban setting approximately 85 miles southeast of Minneapolis/St. Paul. Founded in 2006, UMR specializes in health sciences and biosciences and provides a focused academic environment for its students. Notably, the university is adjacent to the Mayo Clinic, allowing for a strong emphasis on experiential learning and research opportunities in the medical and health fields. UMR offers a Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences and a Bachelor of Science in Health Professions, which are curated to lead into graduate-level education or immediate healthcare careers. In the most recent statistical year 1,198 prospective students applied, and 859 were granted admission.  Of those admitted 193 enrolled in the school.  595 students are enrolled on a full time basis, and 35 attend part time. In-state tuition for 2022/2023, excluding room and board, is $12,808 plus fees of $656.
