Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) is a private research university located in Worcester, Massachusetts, approximately 50 miles west of Boston. Founded in 1865, WPI offers a distinctive education that blends engineering, science, technology, and mathematics with humanities and arts. Known for its project-based curriculum, the institute emphasizes a real-world approach to learning that integrates theory and practice. WPI's campus provides a collaborative environment set within a compact urban area, featuring a combination of modern and historical architecture including the notable Earl Bridge.
