Florida Southern College

Overview

Florida Southern College, established in 1883, is a private liberal arts college located in Lakeland, Florida, approximately midway between Tampa and Orlando. Renowned for its Frank Lloyd Wright-designed "Child of the Sun" collection of buildings, the campus merges historical architecture with a scenic lakeside setting. The college offers a comprehensive array of undergraduate programs, with Business, Communications, Education, and Nursing being among the most popular majors. A moderately selective institution, Florida Southern maintains a commitment to academic rigor and personalized education through small class sizes and a student-to-faculty ratio that encourages individual attention. Residential life is an integral component of the student experience, with a variety of housing options available on campus. In the most recent statistical year 11,120 prospective students applied, and 6,295 were granted admission.  Of those admitted 754 enrolled in the school.  2,983 students are enrolled on a full time basis, and 298 attend part time. In-state tuition for 2022/2023, excluding room and board, is $39,700 plus fees of $800.
