Florida Atlantic University, situated in Boca Raton, offers a comprehensive array of undergraduate and graduate programs within its 10 colleges. Established in 1961, this public institution has expanded to serve a diverse student body through several campuses, with the main campus notable for its modernist architecture and proximity to the Atlantic coast, less than three miles from the beach. Boca Raton's subtropical climate and the campus's location within the Miami metropolitan area enrich the student experience with cultural and recreational opportunities. FAU maintains a moderate level of application selectivity and is recognized for its programs in the sciences, engineering, business, and nursing. The university provides various options for on-campus living, including suite-style and apartment-style residences designed to cater to both undergraduate and graduate students. While not widely famed for its athletics, FAU competes in Division I as a member of Conference USA, with the Owls fielding teams in multiple sports.
