Central Connecticut State University, located in New Britain, Connecticut, approximately 10 miles southwest of Hartford, occupies a 165-acre suburban campus characterized by a mix of modern and traditional brick buildings. Founded in 1849 as the New Britain Normal School to train teachers, CCSU has evolved into a comprehensive public university offering undergraduate and graduate programs across four academic schools. The university maintains strong programs in education, engineering technology, and business, while also housing the only engineering school among Connecticut's four regional universities. Most first-year students reside in one of the six campus residence halls, and the university competes in NCAA Division I athletics as the Blue Devils, primarily in the Northeast Conference.
