The University of Scranton is a private Jesuit university located in Scranton, Pennsylvania, roughly two hours from Philadelphia. Founded in 1888, the university has fostered a tradition of academic excellence rooted in the principles of liberal arts education. The campus is recognized for its Gothic architecture and offers a variety of on-campus living options for students, which include residence halls and apartment-style housing. The University of Scranton has a moderately selective admissions process and provides a range of undergraduate and graduate programs, with notable emphasis on health professions, business, and the sciences. While the university does participate in NCAA Division III athletics, it is not specifically renowned for its sports programs.
