Bowie State University, situated in Bowie, Maryland, is a historically black institution established in 1865, making it Maryland's oldest historically black university and one of the ten oldest in the country. Located approximately 17 miles from Washington D.C., the university offers students a suburban campus environment with the proximity to urban resources and professional opportunities.
