The University of Louisiana at Monroe (ULM), founded in 1931, is a public university nestled on the banks of the Bayou DeSiard in Monroe, Louisiana, approximately 100 miles from Shreveport. The campus is marked by its natural bayou setting and its distinctively modern Academic Quad centered around the iconic ULM Library Tower. ULM offers a variety of undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral programs with particular recognition in fields such as pharmacy, business, and health sciences. The institution has a moderately selective admissions process that evaluates the overall potential of applicants. Student housing is available on campus, providing a range of living options for the predominantly undergraduate student body. While ULM competes in the NCAA Division I as the Warhawks, the university is particularly noted for its strength in water skiing, having won numerous national championships.
