Knox College

Overview

Knox College, founded in 1837 and located in Galesburg, Illinois, is a private liberal arts institution known for its distinctive academic environment and historic campus. Situated approximately 45 miles from the Quad Cities and about 200 miles southwest of Chicago, Knox offers a diverse range of undergraduate programs with a notable emphasis on creative writing, environmental studies, and social sciences. Architecturally significant, the campus features Old Main, a National Historic Landmark, which is the only remaining site of the 1858 Lincoln-Douglas debates. With a moderately selective admissions process, the college seeks to enroll students who demonstrate strong intellectual potential and a commitment to the school's values. Knox provides on-campus housing options, contributing to a close-knit residential experience for its student body. In the most recent statistical year 2,987 prospective students applied, and 2,190 were granted admission.  Of those admitted 247 enrolled in the school.  1,047 students are enrolled on a full time basis, and 11 attend part time. In-state tuition for 2022/2023, excluding room and board, is $52,461 plus fees of $798.
