Overview

The United States Coast Guard Academy (USCGA), situated in New London, Connecticut, is a federal service academy that trains officers for the U.S. Coast Guard. Established in 1876, the academy is noted for its rigorous academic and physical training programs designed to foster leadership and professional development. The USCGA is highly selective, with an emphasis on a core curriculum that blends engineering and maritime studies, with notable programs in Civil Engineering and Mechanical Engineering. Its waterfront campus along the Thames River exhibits a mix of traditional and modern architecture, with cadets required to live on campus.
