Claflin University, a private historically black university located in Orangeburg, South Carolina, is approximately 40 miles southeast of Columbia. Established in 1869, Claflin is known for its rich history and tradition of promoting access to higher education for students of diverse backgrounds. The campus boasts a mix of contemporary and historic buildings, with a serene, compact setting conducive to academic pursuits. Claflin offers a variety of undergraduate and graduate degree programs with an emphasis on empowering students through a liberal arts education. Known for its Biology, Business Administration, and Psychology programs, the university maintains a moderately selective admission process.
