Overview

The University of New England (UNE) is a private institution situated in the coastal town of Biddeford, Maine, approximately 35 miles southwest of Portland. Founded in 1831, UNE represents a blend of traditional New England heritage with modern educational facilities, including well-recognized programs in the health sciences. Its picturesque campus, characterized by a mingling of historic and contemporary architecture, is spread across 540 acres with prominent views of the Saco River and the Atlantic Ocean. The university offers a comprehensive range of undergraduate, graduate, and professional degrees, with notable emphasis on the health sciences, including medicine, dental medicine, and pharmacy. UNE maintains a moderately selective admissions process. The college provides on-campus housing options, contributing to a residential collegiate experience. Although UNE is not predominantly known for its athletics, it supports a variety of sports teams, known as the Nor'easters, competing in the NCAA Division III.

In the most recent statistical year 4,941 prospective students applied, and 4,757 were granted admission.  Of those admitted 731 enrolled in the school.  4,549 students are enrolled on a full time basis, and 1,885 attend part time. In-state tuition for 2022/2023, excluding room and board, is $39,510 plus fees of $1,440.
