The Catholic University of America, located in Washington, D.C., is a private institution that stands as the national university of the Catholic Church in the United States, established in 1887. Nestled within a residential neighborhood of the nation's capital, the university resides within close proximity to the many cultural, political, and historical resources of the city. Its collegiate gothic architecture defines much of the campus aesthetic, offering a contrast between traditional design and modern educational facilities.
