Established in 1887, Pomona College is a private liberal arts institution located in Claremont, California, approximately 35 miles east of Los Angeles. Pomona's campus features a mix of contemporary and historical architecture set within a 140-acre landscape. Recognized for its rigorous academics, Pomona offers a wide range of majors, with particular strengths in the social sciences, natural sciences, and humanities. The college operates on a semester system, providing a comprehensive liberal arts education through small classes and close faculty-student interaction. Pomona College is characterized by its highly selective admissions process, seeking to enroll a diverse and talented student body. Housing is guaranteed for all four years, aiming to enhance the educational experience through residential life. While not primarily known for its athletic programs, Pomona College participates in NCAA Division III sports as a member of the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) through a joint athletics program with Pitzer College, known as the Pomona-Pitzer Sagehens.
