A 76 is a C and is one percentage point below being a C+. The cutoff for a C+ is a 77 minimum. However, teachers may sometimes give students the benefit of the doubt and round up to a C+. This is especially true if your percentage is a fraction above a 76, like a 76.5, 76.75 or 76.9. If the C is rounded up you would benefit from an additional 0.3 grade points in your GPA calculation.
