Washington State University (WSU), located in Pullman, Washington, is a public research university established in 1890. The campus is situated in the Palouse region, a primarily agricultural area known for its rolling hills, and is some 75 miles south of Spokane, offering a rural college town environment. Architecturally, the campus features a mix of modern and historical red brick buildings. WSU is classified among "R1: Doctoral Universities ? Very high research activity" and maintains a broad range of academic programs with notable emphases in veterinary medicine, pharmacy, agriculture, and engineering. The university offers on-campus housing options, including residence halls and apartment-style living. The application process at WSU is considered moderately selective.
