BYU Test Policy

Test Submission Requirements

Brigham Young University in Provo is test-optional for most first-year applicants through winter 2028. SAT or ACT scores are not required if you completed enough accredited high school coursework, and BYU uses a do-no-harm rule: a score is reviewed only when it helps. Homeschooled applicants may still have to send a score if they lack that coursework or 24 graded college credits. If you want a score considered, BYU must receive and process an official SAT or ACT report before you submit the application.
