Student and Parent Reviews

I am a student at Penn State University Park in 2025-2026. I give this school a 3 out of 5 stars, which translates to average. Everyone is rude (both students and adults. I wouldn't be saying it if it weren't true), and the campus can get sketchy sometimes (especially in State college.) They SAY everyone is nice and welcoming, but it's actually quite the opposite. Drinking is a major problem, and all the students are animals anyway, which is really sad to see, and depressing to think these are our future "adults and leaders of the world". I think this is true for every college, but I feel like I'm in an insane asylum. If this is supposed to be "happy valley", then I'm beyond scared as to what other schools are... Of course you won't find a review like this anywhere else most likely, because no one has the guts to point out what this place truly is. I literally go here. I'm literally giving you an accurate depiction. So in summary, Penn State University Park broadens your horizons and gives you a sense of just how big the world is. Only thing is, you realize it's for all the wrong reasons...

Excellent school! Loved my experience at Penn State and would not have traded it for an apartment and a car. Loved my time there and loved my dorm. Classes were always challenging as were the professors. I always find an excuse to go back. Excellent education.

Good educational experience. Great relationship between campus and town. Tremendous flexibility to structure educational foundation due to the vast number of majors. Good combination of athletics for both men and women. Good diversity of student population - undergraduates, graduates, nationalities and races. Despite the large size, small interest groups can be created and cultivated.

Penn State is amazing! You will not regret going here, ask any alumni. There are a lot of students and the campus is big but you don't feel like a small fish and a big sea. There's a lot of opportunities you can't get at other schools because of Penn State's size and valued reputation.
