Overview

Hamline University, founded in 1854 as the first university in Minnesota, is a private liberal arts college located in Saint Paul. With its suburban campus offering a mix of historic and modern architecture, the university presents a serene learning environment within the dynamic Minneapolis-St. Paul metropolitan area. Hamline is noted for fostering a diverse academic portfolio, with popular programs in legal studies, business, and social sciences. While it has a broadly inclusive admissions policy, the university maintains a selective screening process for its incoming class. On-campus housing is available, supporting a significant portion of the student population. Hamline's Pipers compete in NCAA Division III athletics, without a particular emphasis on athletic renown.

In the most recent statistical year 3,840 prospective students applied, and 3,093 were granted admission.  Of those admitted 477 enrolled in the school.  1,742 students are enrolled on a full time basis, and 896 attend part time. In-state tuition for 2022/2023, excluding room and board, is $45,540 plus fees of $1,076.
