The College of Southern Maryland (CSM) is a public, regional community college located in La Plata, Maryland, with additional campuses in Leonardtown and Prince Frederick. Established in 1958, the institution is situated approximately 30 miles southeast of Washington D.C., offering students a suburban setting with proximate urban amenities. CSM serves a diverse student body with a comprehensive array of associate degree programs, certificate programs, and workforce development opportunities. Among its academic offerings, the college is known for its nursing, cybersecurity, and engineering programs. CSM maintains an open admissions policy, making higher education accessible to a broad range of applicants. The college primarily caters to commuters and does not provide on-campus housing facilities.

College of Southern Maryland has an open admission policy which permits enrollment by any high school graduate or GED holding student.  1,797 students are enrolled on a full time basis, and 3,071 attend part time. In-state tuition for 2022/2023, excluding room and board, is $5,760 plus fees of $1,440.
