Georgia College & State University (GCSU), located in Milledgeville, Georgia, stands as the state's designated public liberal arts university. Founded in 1889, GCSU merges historic ambiance with modern educational facilities, highlighted by its Antebellum architecture that punctuates a campus distinguished by scenic green spaces and a traditional college atmosphere. Approximately 30 miles northeast of Macon, the university offers an array of undergraduate and graduate programs, with particularly strong emphasis on liberal arts education. Popular majors encompass business, the health sciences, and education, reflecting a focus on both intellectual and practical professional development. GCSU maintains a selective admissions process and provides on-campus housing options to foster a supportive academic environment. The university is not predominantly known for its athletic programs; however, it does compete in NCAA Division II as the Bobcats.
