Longwood University is a public institution nestled in the heart of Farmville, Virginia, approximately 60 miles west of the state's capital, Richmond. Established in 1839, Longwood stands as one of the oldest universities in the United States, with a campus featuring a blend of historic and contemporary architecture. The university's academic profile consists of more than 100 majors, minors, and concentrations, with particular recognition for its programs in business, education, and communication studies. With a moderately selective admissions process, Longwood extends opportunities to a diverse range of students. The university promotes on-campus living with a requirement for freshmen and sophomores to reside in one of its residence halls, fostering a close-knit residential community.
