Overview

Sul Ross State University is a public institution located in Alpine, Texas, nestled within the picturesque Davis Mountains, approximately 220 miles southeast of El Paso. Founded in 1917, Sul Ross State offers a unique combination of traditional academia and hands-on training, known for its programs in agricultural sciences, natural resource management, and its strong ties to the ranching industry. The university maintains a commitment to personal attention, with a focus on undergraduate education as well as some graduate offerings. The campus, characterized by its Spanish architecture, spans over 600 acres and provides a range of on-campus housing options to its students. Sul Ross State possesses a less selective admissions policy, enabling a broad array of students to access higher education. Sul Ross State University has an open admission policy which permits enrollment by any high school graduate or GED holding student.  1,015 students are enrolled on a full time basis, and 972 attend part time. In-state tuition for 2022/2023, excluding room and board, is $5,419 plus fees of $2,230.
