McMurry University

Overview

McMurry University, located in Abilene, Texas, offers a small, private liberal arts college experience, established in 1923 by the United Methodist Church. The campus exudes a traditional feel with its predominantly Georgian style architecture and provides on-campus housing for its students. Academically, McMurry is known for its programs in Business, Education, and the Natural and Social Sciences, and maintains a relatively moderately selective admissions process. While the university is situated within a residential area of Abilene, it enjoys the cultural and economic benefits of being in proximity to a larger city, Dallas, approximately three hours away. McMurry does participate in NCAA Division III athletics, with student-athletes competing on various sports teams known as the War Hawks.

In the most recent statistical year 2,345 prospective students applied, and 1,325 were granted admission.  Of those admitted 276 enrolled in the school.  1,021 students are enrolled on a full time basis, and 216 attend part time. In-state tuition for 2022/2023, excluding room and board, is $29,972 plus fees of $450.
