McMurry University, located in Abilene, Texas, offers a small, private liberal arts college experience, established in 1923 by the United Methodist Church. The campus exudes a traditional feel with its predominantly Georgian style architecture and provides on-campus housing for its students. Academically, McMurry is known for its programs in Business, Education, and the Natural and Social Sciences, and maintains a relatively moderately selective admissions process. While the university is situated within a residential area of Abilene, it enjoys the cultural and economic benefits of being in proximity to a larger city, Dallas, approximately three hours away. McMurry does participate in NCAA Division III athletics, with student-athletes competing on various sports teams known as the War Hawks.
