College of the Mainland

Overview

College of the Mainland (COM) is a public community college located in Texas City, Texas, within proximity to the vibrant metropolitan area of Houston. Established in 1966, the institution has carved a niche in providing accessible higher education and vocational training suited to the diverse needs of its student body, with a campus that reflects the pragmatic and service-oriented ethos of the region. The college extends its academic offerings through various associate degree programs, certificate courses, and continuing education opportunities, with popular programs in process technology, nursing, and emergency services contributing to its profile. While COM does not provide on-campus housing, it compensates with a robust network of support services for students. College of the Mainland has an open admission policy which permits enrollment by any high school graduate or GED holding student.  1,115 students are enrolled on a full time basis, and 3,367 attend part time. In-state tuition for 2022/2023, excluding room and board, is $2,550 plus fees of $423.
