Mount Marty University is located in Yankton, South Dakota, situated along the Missouri River in the southeastern part of the state. Founded in 1936 by the Benedictine Sisters of Sacred Heart Monastery, the institution operates within the Catholic, Benedictine tradition while maintaining its liberal arts focus. The 80-acre main campus features a mix of historic and modern buildings, including the recently constructed Ruth Donohoe First Dakota Fieldhouse. Mount Marty offers undergraduate programs with particular emphasis in nursing, education, and business, while also maintaining strong offerings in criminal justice and exercise science. Students can choose to reside in one of three residence halls on the residential campus, and the university competes in NAIA athletics as the Lancers.
