Racial Diversity

Racial Diversity Index: 64%

Racial diversity is the chance that two students chosen at random are from different racial or ethnic groups, using the U.S. Census Bureau Diversity Index. Students at ECU are mainly White with a smaller American Indian/Alaskan population. The school has high racial diversity. 45% percent of students are minorities or people of color (BIPOC). The ethnic breakdown is detailed in the following table.

East Central University is a Native American Serving Non-Tribal Institution (NASNTI). It is not controlled by a Native American tribe but it serves a percentage of American Indian and Alaska Native students.

Gender Diversity

Gender Diversity Index: 47%

There are 64% more female students than male students enrolled at East Central University with a gender ratio of 62% women to 38% men. Compared to the US average of 56% female students, ECU has a higher gender diversity than other US colleges and is very inclusive of both genders.
