Halifax Community College

Overview

Halifax Community College, established in 1967, is a public institution located in Weldon, North Carolina, near the Virginia border and approximately 95 miles northeast of Raleigh. This college offers a range of certificate, diploma, and associate degree programs, with a notable emphasis on health sciences, manufacturing technology, and business administration among its diverse academic offerings. The campus hosts a modern setting with facilities that support its technical and vocational programs. There is no student housing available on campus, reflecting the college's role primarily as a commuter institution. Regarding application selectivity, Halifax Community College maintains an open-admissions policy, which allows for a broad and inclusive approach to student acceptance. Halifax Community College has an open admission policy which permits enrollment by any high school graduate or GED holding student.  213 students are enrolled on a full time basis, and 782 attend part time. In-state tuition for 2022/2023, excluding room and board, is $2,432 plus fees of $176.

Halifax Community College is designated as a Predominantly Black Institution (PBI) and receives federal grants supporting the school's efforts to serve low and middle-income Black Americans.
