William Jewell College

Overview

William Jewell College, founded in 1849, is a private liberal arts college located in Liberty, Missouri, near Kansas City. The campus features a blend of contemporary and historic architecture, including the John Gano Memorial Chapel known for its distinctive gothic design. William Jewell offers a wide range of academic programs with a strong emphasis on leadership and service. The college operates on a principles-based curriculum with a notable Oxbridge Honors Program, which incorporates tutorial-style teaching reminiscent of Oxford and Cambridge Universities. Known for a more selective admissions process, the institution provides a rigorous educational environment that appeals to a diverse set of students. While the college does not emphasize intercollegiate athletics as a cornerstone of its reputation, it does field teams in various sports, known as the Cardinals. On-campus housing is available, contributing to the residential college experience William Jewell strives to cultivate.

In the most recent statistical year 1,676 prospective students applied, and 687 were granted admission.  Of those admitted 243 enrolled in the school.  832 students are enrolled on a full time basis, and 21 attend part time. In-state tuition for 2022/2023, excluding room and board, is $18,360 plus fees of $1,250.
