Martin Luther College (MLC), situated in New Ulm, Minnesota, serves as the college of ministry for the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod (WELS). Established in 1995 through the amalgamation of Dr. Martin Luther College and Northwestern College, MLC is committed to training future pastors, teachers, and staff ministers. The campus boasts a serene, residential setting approximately 90 miles southwest of Minneapolis, providing a focused environment for its programs. MLC offers a variety of undergraduate degrees in theological education and education for various age levels and subjects, with an emphasis on classical Lutheran education methods. The application process at Martin Luther College is moderately selective. On-campus living is an integral part of the student experience, with housing options designed to accommodate most of the study body. While MLC is not primarily known for its athletic programs, students participate in various intercollegiate sports as the Knights within the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference.
