Established in 1861, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) is a private research institution situated in Cambridge, Massachusetts, adjacent to Boston. Known for its rigorous academic programs and highly selective admission process, MIT is particularly renowned for its expertise in engineering, computer science, and the physical sciences. The institution features a distinctive campus characterized by a blend of classic and modern architecture, including the iconic Great Dome.
