Overview

Elmhurst University, formerly Elmhurst College prior to June 2020, is a private liberal arts institution founded in 1871 and affiliated with the United Church of Christ. Situated in Elmhurst, Illinois, the university is approximately 16 miles west of downtown Chicago, offering students both a suburban campus environment and access to a major urban center. Elmhurst's campus features a blend of traditional collegiate gothic architecture and modern facilities. Notable for its comprehensive undergraduate programs, Elmhurst provides a range of majors, with business, nursing, and psychology being among the most popular. The university operates on a semester-based academic calendar and maintains a holistic admissions process with a moderately selective acceptance rate. Housing options are available for students, including residence halls and apartment-style living. While the university supports various athletic teams, known as the Bluejays, it does not specifically emphasize a prominent athletic reputation.

In the most recent statistical year 5,731 prospective students applied, and 4,356 were granted admission.  Of those admitted 617 enrolled in the school.  3,091 students are enrolled on a full time basis, and 640 attend part time. In-state tuition for 2022/2023, excluding room and board, is $39,862 plus fees of $370.
