Florida Gateway College

Overview

Florida Gateway College (FGC) is a public college located in Lake City, Florida, which is situated in northern Florida near the intersection of Interstates 75 and 10, approximately an hour away from Gainesville. Established in 1947 as the Columbia Forestry School, FGC has since evolved into a comprehensive institution providing a range of educational programs and services. The college offers a variety of associate degrees, workforce certificate programs, and baccalaureate degrees, with an emphasis on areas such as Nursing, Emergency Medical Services, and Environmental Science Management. Not highly selective, the admissions process at FGC is designed to provide opportunities to a broad range of students. While the campus lacks significant architectural landmarks, it provides a serene, intimate setting ideal for its primarily commuter-based student population, with on-campus housing options not available. Florida Gateway College does not emphasize athletics as a central component of its campus identity or student activities.

Florida Gateway College has an open admission policy which permits enrollment by any high school graduate or GED holding student.  906 students are enrolled on a full time basis, and 1,800 attend part time. In-state tuition for 2022/2023, excluding room and board, is $2,369 plus fees of $731.
