The University of Northern Colorado (UNC), set in the city of Greeley, offers a blend of historic and modern campus architecture and is situated about an hour?s drive from Denver. Founded in 1889 as the State Normal School of Colorado, UNC boasts a longstanding history in teacher education and has since expanded into a comprehensive baccalaureate and graduate research university. Notably, the institution houses the Monfort College of Business, which has received singular accolades for its business program. The university is characterized by a less selective admissions process, aiming to provide a broad range of academic programs to a diverse student body. Students at UNC can choose from over 100 undergraduate programs and roughly 120 graduate programs, with education, business, and nursing being among the more popular majors. On-campus living is available, with numerous residential halls and apartment complexes providing accommodation to students. While UNC supports a range of NCAA Division I sports teams, known as the Bears, it is not primarily celebrated for athletic achievements.

In the most recent statistical year 10,107 prospective students applied, and 7,938 were granted admission.  Of those admitted 1,193 enrolled in the school.  6,196 students are enrolled on a full time basis, and 3,184 attend part time. In-state tuition for 2022/2023, excluding room and board, is $8,750 plus fees of $2,582. University of Northern Colorado is ranked 617 nationally in the CollegeSimply.com 2024 U.S. Colleges Ranking.
