The University of Arkansas-Fort Smith (UAFS) is a public university located on the border of Oklahoma and Arkansas, approximately 5 miles from downtown Fort Smith. Founded in 1928 as a junior college, it evolved into a four-year institution and officially joined the University of Arkansas System in 2002. UAFS offers a variety of undergraduate degree programs, with particular strengths in business, healthcare, and applied sciences. The university's application process is considered moderately selective. The campus features a contemporary architectural style and provides on-campus housing options to its student body.
