Petty students need to pass judgement and criticize Asians for not being aware of their surroundings or not getting into better schools. I'm sick of their casual racism at their school sponsored events detracting from the importance of higher education.

Not entirely sure of the validity of the previous review, but I strongly disagree. For starters, I'm not sure how the rating for party and bar scene is so low, considering how close campus is to downtown, let alone all the options available on university way, and greek row. And not caring for STEM majors? Considering the majority of the students are here for the med program(s), CS, Engineering and Nursing, and the amount of money/resources they've put into even just the Allen Center (where I spend most of my time for my courses), I have to say that is a flat out lie. The professors aren't all perfect, but doing some research on ratemyprofessor and asking around isn't that hard to do, especially considering these classes are what will lead to getting a degree and stepping into a professional career. Also if UW didn't care about its students it wouldn't make sense to bother offering resources, like having Schmitz Hall or the career center (which they literally help you in getting internships while a student, and securing a job after graduation). They also offer tutoring at Mary Gates Hall, particularly for STEM students, where you can either drop in or set a time to meet with someone who can help. It's not perfect, I will say housing can be pretty frustrating. Landee and Terry Hall can be pretty rowdy at times, and good luck finding something affordable around the campus. Campus safety is good and campus police are always patrolling around. The cost can be seen by some as being high, but unless you go to a community college, what college isn't expensive? Seattle U and SPU are significantly more pricey. You really get alot of bang for the buck at UW, and though it isn't free, the amount of resources available and value this college offers makes this a great value when looking at investing in your future.

Profit above all else?this is the most important thing to know about the UW. It is a business. The administration doesn't care about any more than Amazon does, actually scratch that, less because at least Amazon wants your repeat business. They do a great job on selling you an idea: research, small course sizes, student life, whatever it takes to get your tuition money. Then you'll get here and find out, the fountains are only turned on for tour days... They've got you in, now they are done caring. Especially for STEM majors, students with existing barriers, such as disabilities, really do not come here. They will convince you, for example, that you should come because it is a research institution and you will have access to lab opportunities. Then they will do nothing to help you find a position, don't want to hire enough faculty (costs money), course sizes are too massive to connect with anyone, and you will try 30 different labs (not expecting pay) and *maybe* find a spot during the last quarter of your senior year, now that you have enough experience to be taken seriously. Yes, you need experience for an unpaid position. I think every day about how I could have gone to Western.
