Overview

John Tyler Community College, founded in 1967 and part of the Virginia Community College System, stands in Chester, Virginia, with a secondary campus in Midlothian. This two-year public institution serves as a commuter college with no on-campus housing and is situated approximately 20 miles south of Richmond, providing easy access to the metropolitan resources of Virginia's capital. Characterized by its focus on career and technical education alongside traditional academic pathways, John Tyler Community College offers a range of associate degrees and certificate programs, with particular emphasis on Health Sciences, Business, Engineering, and Industrial Technologies. John Tyler Community College has an open admission policy which permits enrollment by any high school graduate or GED holding student.  1,975 students are enrolled on a full time basis, and 6,817 attend part time. In-state tuition for 2022/2023, excluding room and board, is $4,650 plus fees of $150.
