Rich with opportunities for growth, Texas State University provides a variety of courses/majors and a reputation for being a party school that I doubt it will ever overcome. Because it IS fun. But you can "party" at any school if you want to, and/or you can grow, learn and network if that is your choice. Set in the charming little city of San Marcos, in the heart of the hill country between Austin and San Antonio, opportunities for exploring nature abound, but the campus itself offers beautiful spaces for studying or resting between classes. The town is much more commercialized now (with nationwide chains rather than the unique sorts of mom&pop restaurants and shops). My time at Texas State University did support questioning, as I'm prone to believe any higher educational institution should. I am strong in my faith and only became stronger during my years at SWT (as it was known then.) During my freshman orientation, I established my church home away from home and attended regularly (not that I never attended a frat party or went out. I did. ) I still see my classmates excelling in our teaching field to this day. I have taught PK-12 with excellent reviews from my administration in all levels and my students have also excelled. As for the extracurricular activities, I still love river tubing and hiking. I do wish I'd taken canoeing while I had the chance!

Texas state is a beautiful campus in a wonderful location. It has great sports teams esp. volleyball & baseball & beautiful football stadium. There are constant improvements being done especially for housing. With the San Marcos river, Aquarena Springs, Outlet malls, & the Hill counrty nearby, there were plenty of things to do on the weekends besides partying. I always felt everyone there shared an appreciation for nature. I highly reccomend Texas State.

Texas State was a wonderful campus. Some of these reviews make me laugh. Rule #1 to a successful college experience... don't party. Focus, this is not a free ride and you need to give 100% if you want to be successful. As for the one star rating... wow... just wow. Religion has no place in psychology and philosophy. These classes focus on either science or alternative ways of thinking. You missed the point entirely and you cannot get everyone to share your opinion. Religion is NOT fact, psychology and philosophy ARE factual historical/relevant topics designed to expand your ethical and logical reasoning... you missed the point I see. Don't bash Texas State because of your personal beliefs. This is an amazing campus with plenty to offer at 1/3 the cost compared to A&M or UT. Their programs are accredited and valued by future employers. I was offered a career during my internship (required within my degree program) but already accepted a position with another employer!

It is difficult to go to this school and not get involved into the party scene. However, San Marcos is wonderful and the atmosphere at Texas State is too.

Texas State was the worst six years of my life. The only good thing about going to Texas State was experiencing God and His Love for me through His One True Church, the Catholic Church, and by the intercession of the Most Blessed Virgin Mary and that there were kind people who cared about me and accepted me. God is hated at Texas State, His rights and precepts are despised and ignored(except when a professor wants to attack it). Texas State, like many judaic-masonic colleges in the US, don't teach reality to their students. They teach them a nightmare and call it a utopia. I was part of the student body, but my voice was hardly ever valued, and was disdained by "open-minded" professors who themselves despised the truth. The feminism promoted at Texas State was not only false, since feminism is false always, it was annoying and obnoxious. Many of my psychology courses emphasized communist thinking by consistently bringing up race, class, and gender. Many of my philosophy and a

Texas State University provides an outstanding college atmosphere with a sense of belonging to something greater than the individual student. What ended up being the greatest reward for me was the post graduation opportunities provided by Alumni. All I heard growing up was hype about A&M and UT Alumni; to my surprise, Texas State Alumns provided me my first two career advancements after college. I highly recommend Texas State University no matter SAT/ACT score it has something to offer every student!

The school is gorgeous and world class. Students pride themselves on the spring-fed river, local businesses and their proximity to jobs/internships in nearby big cities Austin and San Antonio.
